How are lists compiled?
Depending on the type of list you choose to rent, lists are compiled utilizing a wide variety of methods. Some of the sources of information are public records, census data, birth records, voter registrations, deed recordings, telephone directories, subscription information, warranty card registration, tradeshow registration, opt-in email responses, response data, credit and financial information, postal records, and membership information. Consult your Direc-Tel Account Executive to determine the best source for your campaign.
What kind of response rate can I expect?
A successful direct marketing campaign will yield, approximately, a half of a percent to one and a half percent response rate.
What influences my response rate?
About 40 percent of the success depends on the accuracy of the list you purchase. An additional 40 percent is based on the quality of your offer. The last 20 percent is left to circumstance.
Why can't I buy a list of children's names?
Children's names cannot be output on a list due to the sensitivity of the data. However, lists can be purchased of households with children, by age. The head of household will be output. Sample mail pieces are required before outputting this type of file.
How can I locate zip codes?
The United States Post Office's web site offers a zip code look up service. Visit it by clicking here.
Will my order be taxed?
If you will be receiving a physical output in the state of Florida, Tennessee or North Carolina your order will be taxed.
How can I put my data into an Excel/Word file?

How many records do I need to order to have an accurate test?
We suggest a minimum of 5,000 records to best assure an accurate test.
How can I increase the deliverability of my in-house database?
In order to increase deliverability, your file should be addressed standardized. You may want to have it run through the NCOA database as well. Please ask your Direc-Tel Representative for more information on cleansing tactics.
Can I rent a list of fax numbers?
Fax numbers can be obtained. However, federal legislation prohibits the transmission of unsolicited faxes. Direc-Tel requires that clients renting fax lists sign an agreement that they will use the list in accordance with the law.
